2017 Chevrolet Spark making its way to the Philippines

MANILA: In order to name a few of its offerings to the Philippines for this year, Chevrolet has confirmed that 2017 Spark will be launched in March. Yes, Chevrolet Philippines will be launching the updated A-segment hatchback car in this March.

The 2017 Chevrolet Spark was first revealed at the 2015 New York International Auto Show and now it is all set for its local debut. Along with an entirely new look, 2017 Spark also gets a new platform. The distinct shape of the car has been kept intact but with redesigned front profile. The new front now features a new set of headlights and foglights. The front split-grille has been carried over from the previous version.

The other design element which has been retained from the previous version are the window mounted rear door handles. This pattern is also seen on the new Suzuki Swift.  The rear has been also updated with new curved tail lights and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

Under the hood, the 2017 Chevrolet Spark is equipped with a 1.4-litre EcoTec inline-four engine. This engine is capable of delivering a maximum power output of 99PS while it is coupled to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). There are also speculations for a manual gearbox but, the company has not confirmed this yet.

The images of the cabin surfaced on the internet suggest that the 2017 Spark will carry an all-black theme with an entirely new dashboard. The cabin will also get a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and big air-con controls. The Philippines-specific details of the cabin are yet to be revealed. Details related to the prices are not revealed yet and we believe that the company might release these details near its launch. The official launch date is still not clear but, as MIAS is scheduled to happen in March, Chevrolet might use this platform to introduce the updated Spark.

After updated Chevrolet Trailblazer all eyes will be on the upcoming 2017 Chevrolet Spark. With updated design and powertrain, the hatchback is going to give a hard time to its key rivals like Toyota Wigo and Hyundai Eon.
