2017 Toyota Yaris revealed

MANILA: One of the prominent hatches from the house of Japanese automaker has received an extensive update. Yes, Toyota Yaris has been updated with an improved exterior, interior and powertrain. After 2017 Vios, Toyota has released the first set of images of the 2017 Yaris. The exterior styling has been refreshed to give this hatch a sportier and wider look. The front now features a new set of headlights accompanied with tiger nose grille while the door moldings down the side are positioned lower.

At the back, new horizontal taillights, a revised tailgate as well as new rear bumper accentuates the overall design of the 2017 Yaris. Toyota is also offering three options of alloy wheels to customize the design according to personal choice. The options of LED daytime running headlights and LED taillights are also offered.

The cabin is refreshed with new color, trims, and upholstery while the instrument cluster now features new dials. Newly styled air vents and revised switchgear are also prominent in the 2017 Yaris. The key addition in the cabin is a 4.2-inch color display in the instrument panel which was missing in the car from quite a long time.

Considering the powertrain options, the first is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol which is capable of developing 110 hp maximum power and 136 Nm peak torque.  The bigger engine is evolved for better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. Toyota has also planned a hybrid version of 1.5-litre petrol which will go on sale along with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine later. The 1.0-litre version produces 68 hp maximum power.

All the variants of 2017 Toyota Yaris are equipped with a significant range of safety features. These features include a pre-collision warning system with autonomous emergency braking, automatic high-beam lights and lane departure warning system. Apart from the entry-level model, all other versions get traffic sign recognition capabilities too.

The prices are not revealed yet and it is expected that Toyota will reveal further information at the Geneva Motor Show next month. For the Philippines, there is no information about the 2017 Toyota Yaris launch but, we expect it to arrive by the mid-year.
