2018 Daihatsu Terios Custom launched at GIIAS

MANILA: The Toyota Rush may be a more popular model compared to the Daihatsu Terios. However, when you look at them side-by-side, calling the Rush a rebadged model of the Terios is obvious. In fact, the two cars have a lot of things in common other than just the aesthetics, starting from the underpinning to the engine option offered.

The 2018 Daihatsu Terios Custom has now made an official debut at the ongoing GIIAS 2018 in Indonesia and flaunts a sportier appearance. Apart from just the TRD Sportivo, the company has managed to make the Terios Custom be sportier than the standard. It has a very unique body kit and some other visual add-ons. Moreover, the company even says that this new model is much more urban and luxurious than the standard Terios.

The skid plates up front are very prominent and butch and so are the additional claddings on the fog lamps. The wheel arches, despite being body coloured, are prominent. There are two red graphic lines that pass across the sides of the window and lower skirts.

At the rear region, the bumper guard has the black reflector covers on it. The “Custom” moniker is given on the tailgate. However, it will be available in just the one colour option, which is the Icy White with red body graphics accents.

Powering the Daihatsu Terios Custom is the same 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i, inline four-cylinder engine which is capable of making a maximum power of 104 PS along with a peak torque of 136 Nm. The power would be sent down to the wheels via a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Pradipto Sugondo, the Motor Research & Development Executive of Daihatsu has expressed his opinion at the launch of the Terios Custom at the GIIAS saying that with this new introduction, the people will be offered with more number of quality SUVs in the market.
