2019 MIAS: Kia Forte launched at a starting price of Php 1,095,000

MANILA: Kia Philippines has launched its new compact family sedan called the Forte at the MIAS Wired 2020 (MIAS). Kia continues to amaze us with its superior taste for design. Just like other Kia vehicles, the Forte looks very stylish and attractive.

There are two variants of the Kia Forte - standard and GT. It’s understandable that the standard model is the entry-level model which is priced at Php 1,095,000. It comes with a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces 130 PS of max power and 157 Nm of peak torque. The transmission here is a 6-speed automatic unit.

If you want a more powerful and performance-oriented car, then Kia has got the Forte GT for you. The GT uses the same 1.6-litre engine but it is turbocharged and produces a whopping 204 PS and 264 Nm. Kia has also a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which should switch between gears super quick.

The Forte GT also gets a few additional subtle styling touches on the outside so that it doesn’t look exactly the same as the standard model. The front and rear bumpers have been tweaked a bit to be more stylish and sporty.

The 18-inch alloy wheels look fantastic. Kia has also used red highlights at the rear of the car and even at some places in the cabin to give an added touch of sportiness. Completing the rear look are the dual exhausts peeking from underneath the rear bumper.

If you’re a driving enthusiast, then you’d definitely admire the bucket seats provided in the Forte GT. Apart from that, there is a large touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Kia Forte GT is a bit expensive than the standard Forte and would cost you Php 1,650,000. But if you want a compact family sedan that can give you the performance you need when you need it, then the GT is the one you should be considering.
