2020 Subaru Impreza is here, WRX & STI models nowhere to be seen

MANILA: Were you also waiting for Subaru to unleash the all-new 2020 Impreza? Put a smile on your face as the Japanese automaker has finally brought out the much-awaited sedan.

However, for the thrill devotees who have been craving for the WRX and STI models, we don't see any light at the end of the tunnel yet. So, what is new about the 2020 Subaru Impreza?

For starters, the smallest Subaru sedan gets a revamped front bumper with a deeper apron and an aggressive sort of look. Then there is the updated grille which has done away with the honeycomb pattern in favour of more conventional slats.

Moreover, the air-intakes are now larger than before and flaunt a one-piece look. On to the fog lamps, the circular units are smaller than the previous ones and reside in the lower corners. There are also new wheel designs for the 2020 Subaru Impreza. The headlamps and the taillamps, however, remain the same as before.

Other new features on the new Impreza incorporate the steer assist function that comes as a part of the EyeSight safety package. The feature guides the sedan between lanes and is extremely helpful and effective on both highways and streets. There are also the Steering Responsive Headlights with an adaptive mode that reduces the blinding incurred by the incoming traffic.

A camera that is placed right under the Subaru badge at the front helps the driver in tackling bumper to bumper traffic. Another interesting and helpful feature is the tilting side rearview mirrors which rotate downwards while reversing and help in adhering to parking and other guidelines.

While Subaru has served the Impreza fanboys with the newest iteration of the sedan, the WRX and WRX STI devotees, on the other hand, still await the automaker to listen to their prayers. It was two years ago when Subaru Philippines released the WRX and WRX STI models for the last time, and it is high time that the Japanese automaker brings out the updated offerings.
