2023 Toyota Vios receives 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating

MANILA: The 2023 Toyota Vios earned a five-star rating from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).

The 2023 Vios received a total score of 78.7 out of 100 after undergoing various tests in four categories: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Safety Assist, and Motorcyclist Safety.

In the frontal impact test under the Adult Occupant Protection category, the new Vios got 14.56 points out of the highest score of 16 points. Based on the data acquired from the test dummy, there was marginal protection for the front passenger's chest, however, the car's frontal occupant compartment remained stable.

For the side impact test, the Toyota Vios received a score of 6.64 out of 8. It was found that there is a weak protection for the driver's chest.

The Vios got 7 out of 8 points in the head protection technology test, bringing the car's total score in the Adult Occupant Protection category to 28.20 out of 32.

For the Child Occupant Protection category, the Toyota Vios underwent three tests: the dynamic test where it earned 24 out of 24 points, the vehicle based test where it got 8 out of 13 points, and the installation test where it received 10.43 out of 12 points.

Under the Safety Assist category, the Toyota Vios received a score of 16.88 out of 21. Among the safety technologies of the 2023 Toyota Vios are anti-lock braking system; electronic stability control; seat belt reminder for front and rear seats; and autonomous emergency braking. It also comes with Toyota Safety Sense advanced driver assist technologies such as lane departure warning system, forward collision warning system, and lane keep assist.

Lastly, the Toyota Vios received 8.58 out of 16 points in the Motorcyclist Safety category. The Vios features that aid in ensuring motorcyclist safety include blind spot detection and auto high beam headlights.
