ACMobility establishes EV charging station in Lucena

MANILA: Electric vehicle (EV) owners can now enjoy worry-free drives to South Luzon as ACMobility has opened its new charging station in Lucena City.

Situated within PTT Lucena just across the Lucena City Government Complex, the latest addition to the mobility company’s EV charging station (EVCS) network serves as a critical stopover that will support long-distance journeys along the southern corridor of Luzon.

In a statement, the firm noted that for years, travelling from Manila to Bicol — which is around 450-500 kilometers — has been a challenge given the limited charging facilities.

“As more EV charging hubs continue to open in strategic locations across Luzon, motorists can now travel farther with less range anxiety. The Lucena site also offers a comfortable break for travelers, with nearby restaurants and convenience stops that make it an ideal pitstop for long drives,” ACMobility explained.

According to the Ayala-steering firm, the newly-inaugurated Lucena station features two 120 kilowatt (kw) direct current fast chargers and a single 22-kw AC type for standard use.

ACMobility is also expected to put up more charging points within Lucena City as two more AC chargers shall be opened in the Giant Lucena station along Evo Tourism Road.

All these facilities are supported by the Evro app — allowing users to locate stations, check availability, charge, and pay with ease.

Further, ACMobility mentioned that the location is also ready to provide future e-mobility solutions as it is also capable of supporting upcoming electrified public transport such as e-jeepneys, fleets, and mobility initiatives under the local government.

The company also noted that since it is near the New Lucena City Hall, the infrastructure also supports Lucena’s efforts to advance cleaner and more efficient mobility for its communities.

“We are building up Lucena City as a gateway location for wider interregional mobility in the country,” Lucena City Mayor Mark Alcala was quoted as saying.

“With this new charging infrastructure built at the heart of Lucena, we are enabling more EV owners to travel confidently from South Luzon all the way to Bicol, helping build a more sustainable and connected transport ecosystem,” he added.

Relatedly, the Lucena City government is also said to be looking at the possibility of installing additional EV charging stations on city-owned properties — with a goal to make EV charging more accessible to residents and visitors alike. This will also further reinforce Lucena’s position as a forward-looking city championing sustainability and clean transport.

By integrating EV infrastructure into city-owned spaces, the local government hopes to encourage more EV adoption and support the transition to a low-carbon mobility ecosystem.

Moreover, the Lucena EVCS forms part of ACMobility’s continued expansion of the Philippine EV Spine, the largest EV charging network in the country, connecting major cities, transport hubs, highways, and key destinations nationwide.

“Every new station means more freedom for EV drivers to go farther and explore more. We want Filipinos to enjoy the journey as much as the destination, with the confidence that they can charge reliably along the way, anywhere in the country,” ACMobility Head of Mobility Infrastructure Carla Buencamino said.
