All-new Ford Ranger spotted in metro

MANILA: Ford is on a roll, teasing us with multiple sightings of the all-new Ford Ranger. Despite tough competition, the model has been the brand's best-selling vehicle, thanks to its rugged looks, versatility, and power. The much-awaited new model promises to deliver fans even more.

If the user-submitted pictures are any indication of what to expect, the upcoming Ford Ranger will definitely feature much more boxy proportions as compared to the outgoing model. The LED headlamps with daytime running lights are reminiscent of the Ford Maverick and Ford Bronco, telling us that Ford is streamlining the design of its models to convey a unified aesthetic philosophy. 

Looking at the upcoming Ford Ranger from the side, we can finally see how it compares to the current model. While some may point out the stark similarities between the outgoing and incoming models, there are clear upgrades, and these are not interchangeable, according to a development discussion. With an upgraded chassis, longer wheelbase, a much wider track, and improved suspension system, the upcoming Ford Ranger is certainly raring to take on the competition. 

What's exciting are the upgrades that can be found under the hood. While not confirmed by Ford Philippines as of this time, globally, the Ford Ranger is available with two variants of the two-liter Ecoblue turbocharged diesel engine. We expect the lower trims to get the less powerful mill that makes 170hp and 405Nm of torque with a six-speed automatic, while upper variants can expect the bi-turbo that makes 210hp and 500Nm.  A more powerful Raptor version is also being planned with a monstrous three-liter Powerstroke diesel engine — the same one found in the Ford F-150.

Ford placed huge emphasis on technology and safety apart from just looks and power. Advanced driver-assist features such as radar-guided cruise control, active parking assist, automatic emergency braking, lane departure and keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and 360-degree cameras to name a few are expected to make the upcoming Ford Ranger an even more compelling purchase for customers who appreciate advanced safety.

Pricing for the upcoming Ford Ranger lineup has yet to be released, but Ford Philippines did mention that their best-selling pick-up truck will start at P1.198 million.
