Astara PH brings out NEV offerings under JMEV

MANILA: Astara Philippines has officially started competing in the battery electric vehicle arena after introducing its latest offerings under the JMEV (Jiangxi Jiangling Group New Energy Vehicle Company) line.

Under the aforementioned marque owned by Groupe Renault, Jiangling Motors Corporation Group and China Agricultural Development Construction Fund Corporation are the JMEV EV2 and EV3 — models that were offered for pre-orders as early as last month.

To recall, JMC (Jiangling Motors Corporation) Philippines also released a teaser in February hinting that “something powerful is coming up.”

Vehicle specifications

Here’s what you need to know about the two vehicles.

JMEV EV2

The JMEV EV2 has the following measurements:

Outside, the electrified hatch comes with a mix of halogen (projector-type headlamps, turn signal lights, taillights, and rear fog lamps) and LED (side turn lamps, and high mount stop lamp) illumination systems.

Inside, the four-seater transport is outfitted with grey and black fabric with turquoise accents as well as beige trimmings. Its creature comforts include:

• Digital instrument cluster (Dot Matrix Display)
• Nine-inch touchscreen system with smartphone mirroring, Bluetooth connectivity, and hands-free audio and call controls mated to a two-speaker setup,
• Four-way manual seats
• Power windows
• Charging outlets (12-volt socket and Type-A USB port)

Powering the vehicle is a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor in a front-wheel drive configuration that can deliver:

This allows the JMEV EV2 to reach a top speed of 105 kilometers per hour.

The electric mill is mated to a 15.86-kilowatt-hour (kwh) battery that lets the car cover up to 201 kilometers when fully charged (based on China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle [CLTC> standards).

Some of the JMEV EV2’s safety technologies are:

• Anti-lock braking system with electronic force distribution
• Hill start assist
• Hydraulic brake assist

Available in Aurora White, Future Cyan, and Dynamic Green, the JMEV EV2 is priced at P668,000.

JMEV EV3

Meanwhile, the JMEV EV3 measures:

It comes with an all-LED lighting system, starting from the projector headlamps, daytime running lights, side turn signals, rear foglamps, taillamps and high mount stop lamp.

The vehicle’s cabin is tailored with beige interior, grey and black fabric, and turquoise accents.

Its myriad of amenities are:

• 10.1-inch infotainment system with integrated instrument cluster as well as CarbitLink, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity matched to a two-speaker configuration
• Manual adjustable front seats
• Air-conditioning system with automatic climate control

The vehicle is equipped with an electric motor that can give out:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	67
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	125

This lets the vehicle reach speeds of up to 115 kph.

Providing electricity to the mill is its 31.15-kWh Ternary Lithium battery with Smart Global Temperature Control — giving the vehicle an emissions-free range of 330 kilometers (CLTC).

Moreover, the JMEV EV3 has the same set of safety features as the EV3.

The JMEV EV3 carries a P788,000 price tag and can be had at the following color options:

• Aurora White
• Cherry Blossom Pink
• Sky Blue
• Dynamic Green
