Audi earns 15 2022 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards

MANILA: Audi now has the most number of 2022 Top Safety Pick+ awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), with 15 models earning the prestigious award. The Audi A5 Coupe, which was the newest addition to the list for the distinction, along with a number of sedans, SUVs, and fully electric e-tron models, received the highest honors, proving Audi's commitment to customer safety.

“We put our customers first which means the safety of Audi vehicles is our top priority. We are proud to lead the industry with the most IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards and recognize our amazing Audi engineers that continuously develop, design and test our cars to achieve these high safety standards,” Audi of America President Daniel Weissland stated.

The Audi models that received the 2022 Top Safety Pick+ award are 2022 and 2023 Audi Q4 e-tron, 2022 and 2023 Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, 2022 and 2023 Audi e-tron, 2022 and 2023 Audi e-tron Sportback, 2022 and 2023 Audi Q5, 2022 and 2023 Audi Q5 Sportback, 2023 Audi Q8, 2023 Audi A3, 2023 Audi A4, 2023 Audi A4 allroad, 2023 Audi A5 Coupe, 2023 Audi A5 Sportback, 2022 and 2023 Audi A6, 2022 and 2023 Audi A6 allroad, and 2022 and 2023 Audi A7.

To receive the Top Safety Pick+ award, a car must have good ratings in all six IIHS crashworthiness tests, including the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength, and head restraint tests. The vehicle must also have an available  front crash prevention system that receives advanced or superior ratings in both vehicle-to-vehicle and daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. Furthermore, all trims must come standard with good or acceptable headlights in order to obtain a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

The newest addition to the roster of awardees, the Audi A5, meets all requirements for the top honor. Both the standard and optional front crash prevention systems received excellent scores in the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian tests, while the two available headlight systems received good and acceptable ratings.
