BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo makes way to the 2018 PIMS

MANILA: BMW Philippines is on a roll at the 2018 PIMS and it gets along with the second significant model debut. Following the coupe-ish X4, the company has displayed its 6 Series Gran Turismo at the ongoing auto show. Built on a stretched platform of the 5 Series, it is slotted above it but below the 7 Series flagship.

The new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo came in as a successor to the 5 Series GT and forms the perfect blend of a fastback appeal with that of a firm practicality. Plus, it has some designing elements similar to the current trend among sporty BMW cars, like the addition of wider kidney grille, wraparound headlamps that are sleek, etc. However, unlike the previously revealed X4, this Gran Turismo has soft curves for the lower part of the bumper. The roofline is shallow towards the rear end and the rear windshield and C-pillar are very rakish.

At the rear end, BMW has managed to make things really attractive. This includes a wraparound LED tail lights that are split at the boot lid. It retains the ‘L’ shape mould but has more additions to it. There is a smooth spoiler-like kick-up at the tailgate, which makes things more interesting.

On the inside, you will find one highlighting change over the sedan counterpart, which is the seating. The seats are mounted at a higher level to make it more like a grand tourer than a track-focused performance beast. Plus, considering the element BMW followed to make its cars, the centre console is tilted towards the driver for convenience. And since it is built on a longer platform than the 5 Series, the cabin space is great.

As for the mechanism under the hood, there is a turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel engine that would be able to make a maximum power of 265 PS along with a staggering 620 Nm of torque. The price would start from PHP 8,790,000.
