125 BMW units utilized in ASEAN 2026 Summit

MANILA: A total of 125 BMW vehicles were utilized to transport regional leaders who took part in the ASEAN 2026 Summit last May 7-8.

Supplying the fleet used in the event was SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation (SMCACDC)—the official distributor of BMW in the Philippines—after being hailed as the summit’s Official Premium Mobility Partner.

The fleet is made up of the following:

• BMW 760i Protection (25 Units): Reserved exclusively for the Heads of State. These specialized high-security sedans provide ballistic and blast resistance without compromising flagship luxury.
• BMW X3 30e xDrive (70 Units): Plug-in hybrid crossovers deployed for visiting diplomats.
• BMW i5 eDrive40 (30 Units): Full-electric sedans released in January 2026

According to the San Miguel Corporation-led vehicle importer, the fleet was designed to ensure the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and executive comfort.

“This collaboration underscores BMW’s leadership in the Philippine luxury automotive market and its dedicated ‘Future Forward’ strategy,” SMCACDC noted in a statement.

“By integrating battery-electric and plug-in hybrid technology alongside elite protection vehicles, BMW is demonstrating that the future of premium mobility is both environmentally responsible and uncompromisingly secure,” it added.

Further, the firm mentioned that BMW’s technical teams provided round-the-clock support throughout the summit to ensure the fleet remained in peak operational condition, “reflecting the brand’s commitment to excellence and its support for the region's diplomatic milestones.”
