Bronco, F-150 are among Ford units to get EyeQ

MANILA: The newly launched Ford F-150 is among the next-generation production vehicles to get the EyeQ sensing technology, which is one of the functions of the automaker’s Co-Pilot 360 driver-assist technology.

Ford is teaming up with Intel company Mobileye to provide EyeQ and its family of devices along with vision-processing software to support Level 1 and Level 2 driver-assistance systems in all of the marque’s vehicles worldwide.

Level 1 systems are defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers as automating a single part of the driving experience like steering or acceleration/deceleration, while Level 2 systems provide both steering and acceleration/braking support. Both still require drivers to supervise performance of the vehicle.

Mobileye will support the brand's lane-keeping system, auto high-beam headlamps, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and intelligent adaptive cruise control, as well as active drive assist hands-free driving in the F-150, Mustang Mach-E, and the all-new Bronco.

Use of the EyeQ marks the first time Ford is committing to a supplier’s technology for the entire lifecycle of its next-generation vehicles.
