CAMPI, TMA: Auto Sales Grow by 27% in June
MANILA: A total of 36,311 vehicles were sold by members of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) in June. This represents a 27% increase compared to the 28,601 units sold in the same month the previous year.

Toyota Motor Philippines was followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation, Ford Motor Company Philippines, Nissan Philippines, Inc., and Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.“The auto industry has maintained double-digit positive growth anew by 27% in June – a reflection of improved consumer spending for big-ticket items amidst the significant market for new motor vehicle sales, the main growth anchor of the industry. Rightfully so, demand for motor vehicles that respond to the needs of the customers will yield strong gains for the industry,” CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez stated.
CAMPI-TMA sold a total of 202,415 units in the first half of 2023, a 30.7% increase from the same period last year.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) had the highest monthly sales in June with 16,381 units sold. Even though sales decreased by 8.3% month over month, it controlled 45.1% of the market. Nevertheless, TMP’s YTD figures increased by 16.8% from 80,090 units in 2022 to 93,575 this year.
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), which sold 6,801 units in June, came in second. A total of 18.7% of all sales were made by MMPC, which suffered a 0.3% decrease in monthly sales from 6,822 units. It experienced a strong YTD increase of 78.5% from 20,734 units sold in 2022 to 37,001 units this year.
Ford Motor Company Philippines came in third for the month with 2,730 units sold or 6.8% of the market. That number is 10.2% less than the total of 3,039 from May. Ford’s YTD figures increased by 54.5% from 8,956 units in 2022 to 13,838.
With 2,388 units sold in June, Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) was in fourth place, up 3.9% from 2,298 sold in May. NPI reported a market share of 6.6% in June. It also saw an 18.9% YTD increase from 11,188 units in 2022 to 13,196 this year.
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), with 1,328 units sold and a 3.7% market share in June, completed the top five. Value month over month is down 7.7% from 1,439 units, but YTD figure is up 17.5% from 7,374 units in 2022 to 8,668 units this year.
