Changan, Mercedes-Benz enjoy strong Q1 2026 PHEV, BEV sales in PH

MANILA: Changan and Mercedes-Benz enjoyed strong electrified vehicle sales in the Philippines in closing the initial quarter of 2026.

Based on the data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated, Inchcape Philippines shared that the Chinese automaker’s local arm placed fifth in sales for the battery-electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) markets in the country.

On the other hand, the Stuttgart-headquartered premium marque ranked seventh in PHEV and 10th in BEV.

“This performance reflects the growing interest in electrified mobility in the Philippines and the importance of offering customers meaningful choice. Through Changan and Mercedes-Benz, we aim to support different mobility needs, from more accessible electrified options to premium electric vehicles, while continuing to work with our partners to help build confidence in the transition to new energy vehicles,” Inchcape South Asia and Pacific Managing Director Alex Hammett said.

Here’s how the two brands fared in the country for this year’s opening quarter.

Changan

As mentioned, Changan ranked fifth in the country’s BEV market—with sales growing by 168 percent compared to the same period last year. The brand’s retail performance was driven by the Changan Lumin, which is its sole offering in the said category.

“These milestones signify the brand’s fervent promise of offering eco-friendlier and more sustainable vehicles for the Filipino people, specifically focused on providing a cleaner and greener future,” the firm mentioned.

The aforementioned model is offered in two trims with base variant priced at P699,000 and the higher trim, P799,000.

Meanwhile, the brand’s sales in the PHEV had a 970-percent year-on-year increase. The said figures were driven by models under the Nevo series namely the Q05, Hunter K50, and A05.

Mercedes-Benz Philippines also enjoyed massive growth in the two segments as amid being a luxury mobility brand it placed seventh in the PHEV segment—supported by the E-Class E 350e, GLC 350e, and GLE 400e.
