Dodge to sell GAC-Empow-based Attitude in Mexico

MANILA: Dodge Mexico is poised to release the latest iteration of the Attitude nameplate, which is based on the GAC Empow.

A photo teasing the 2025 year model Dodge Attitude shows familiar features found in the Chinese sporty sedan. These include the sleek LED headlamp cluster as well as the large grille with angular trims seen on the GAC Empow’s fascia.

Subtle differences can be noticed though. It lacks the yellow accents on the corners of the car’s air intakes and the grillework of the North American-bound sedan has been fitted with a grate that boasts a honeycomb design.

Dodge is yet to reveal the full specifications of the upcoming model.

In the Philippines, the GAC Empow is fitted with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission system. The said setup produces some 174 horsepower with 270 Newton-meters of torque.

Our version of the GAC Empow also comes with three drive modes, namely Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+. The latter would appeal to drivers looking for a car with a spirited drive as it makes the engine more responsive and automatically boosts the sound of the car’s quad exhaust pipes. Various gauges pop up on the sedan’s 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display screen too when this mode is selected.

Notably, the Philippine-market GAC Empow gets leather seats, a leather steering wheel, and faux carbon fiber trims in and outside the vehicle. Here, the seats are peppered with GAC branding, so we’re curious to see what Dodge’s version would look like.

And since Dodge is known for its performance-oriented models, we’re also wondering it will release an Attitude variant based on the GAC Empow R — which Zigwheels Philippines saw at Auto China 2024.

To note, the upcoming car will replace the outgoing model based on the previous-generation Mitsubishi Mirage G4.
