The Mitsubishi Triton, relatively speaking, is one of the newer pickup truck models in the market. Sure, it is a successor of the age-old Strada, but its current generation sold locally was introduced back in January 2024. This contrasts with other Japanese-branded nameplates, which are still going strong without a full model change.

Updated Mitsubishi Triton: specs
Under the hood of the updated Mitsubishi Triton that was launched in Thailand is a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine capable of producing up to 204 horsepower (hp) and 430 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. Depending on the variant, the said model has rear or four-wheel drive (4WD Super Select-II). It may also come with a brake control type active limited-slip differential and a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

When it comes to size, the Thai-spec model, which received an update largely has the same measurements as the pre-updated version. Specifically, it is 5,256-5,360 millimeters (mm) long, 1,865-1930 mm wide, and 1,775-1,815 mm in height. Its wheelbase spans 3,130 mm, and it has a ground clearance of up to 222 mm.

- Dynamic shield grille
- Side mirrors
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Side steps
- Tailgate handle
- Door handles
- LED headlamp bezels
Other noteworthy exterior equipment available on the updated Thai-spec Mitsubishi Triton includes mudguards, a skid plate, roof rails, a bedliner, rain-sensing wipers, and a sports bar. It likewise comes fitted with LED daytime running lamps, LED front fog lamps, LED stop lamps, and LED rear combination lamps. Its headlamp, in particular, gets a leveling and “coming home” function.
For its interior, the Mitsubishi Triton in Thailand has carried over the same five-seater layout equipped with leather seats. Everyone inside is kept cool by a dual-zone automatic climate control system, which is now equipped with a Nanoe X air purification system.

Handling on-board entertainment and navigation for the Thai-spec Mitsubishi Triton is a nine-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The said screen is linked to a six-piece speaker set, while on-board charging is done via USB ports, 12-volt accessory outlets, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
Likewise present on the updated Triton are the following driver-oriented amenities:
- Eight-way power-adjust driver’s seat
- Power-adjust lumbar support
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel
- Drive mode selector
- Tilt and telescopic steering column
- Leather shift knob
- Seven-inch digital gauge cluster
- Auto-dimming rearview mirror
Safety-wise, the updated Mitsubishi Triton in Thailand primarily depends on its array of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), which comprise forward collision mitigation, blind-spot warning, lane change assist, rear-cross traffic alert, moving object detection, and automatic high beams. As of the update, the model was also provided with an adaptive cruise control.

Final thoughts
As mentioned, MMPC has yet to say if it plans to bring in the updated Triton any time soon. Local would-be buyers of this Mitsubishi-made truck, however, will see a lot to like in this refreshed version, especially with the addition of its interior air purification and adaptive cruise control.
