Evro app now integrated with Shell EV charging network

MANILA: The Evro electric vehicle (EV) charging smartphone application will be able to locate and display the current status of all Shell Recharge stations in the country by September 2025. Paving the way for the said update was the recently signed partnership between ACMobility-owned Evro and Shell Pilipinas Corporation. 

To note, Shell Pilipinas’ network of EV charging stations currently numbers 30 across ten locations in the Philippines. For now, the Evro app can currently display a total of ten places with Shell charge points, and it includes the following:

Shell South Luxon Expressway Mamplasan, Laguna - Two 180 kilowatt (kW) direct current (DC) charge points, two 22 kW alternating current (AC) charge points. Shell Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway Rosario Exit, La Union - Two 180 kW DC and two 22 kW AC charge points.

According to Evro, the e-Mobility Service Provider (eMSP) behind the similarly named app, its new cooperative venture with Shell marks the “first true roaming integration between two major charge point operators.” 

“A sustainable and convenient EV lifestyle is only possible with the efficiency of the tools and infrastructure that support it. This is the shared vision that Evro and Shell Pilipinas are both committed to making a reality, identifying the gaps in users’ experience and resolving them,” Evro General Manager Paulo Canivel said. 

“With this partnership, we are simplifying the charging journey for EV drivers and likewise setting the foundation for a more connected and convenient e-mobility ecosystem nationwide,” Canivel added. 

Advantages of Evro app

As touted by Evro, users of its app can expect to gain seamless access to the charge points mentioned above, as well as other ones already listed prior on the app. The Shell Recharge stations, however, are strategically located in high-traffic areas, such as malls and central business districts. 

Moreover, the company’s app can facilitate a smooth payment for EV charging sessions. Usability is likewise enhanced through Evro’s real-time status updates on whether a particular charge point is in use, the current state-of-charge of a user’s plugged-in EV unit, the type of port of a specific point of charge, and, more importantly, the distance of an available charge point from a user’s current location. 

Notably, the Evro app is available for download on both Android and iOS (Apple) smartphones. It is also easy to use: just register with an active email and attach a payment method to start charging.
