Ford begins 2022 with record US sales momentum

MANILA: In North America, Ford reported that it has received a "record" number of new vehicle orders and fulfilled previous customer orders. 

With the new and previous orders, total sales for Ford across its vehicle classes (trucks, SUVs, and electrified vehicles) and Lincoln brand amounted to 143,531 units in January 2022. 

Ford said took in over 90,000 new vehicle orders, while 37% of its sales comprised of customers who received their brand-new Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

Ford trucks, including the F-Series, Maverick, and Ranger, totaled to  71,734 unit sales in January 2022. Ford sold 5,237 Ranger trucks over the same time. 

As for SUVs, Ford sold a total of 66,122 vehicles in the segment last January. Ford credits the Bronco, Bronco Sport, and Mustang Mach-E for contributing 16,692 to the number. Meanwhile, 2,235 EcoSport units were sold. 

Ford claimed that "electrified vehicle sales in January grew almost
four times faster than the overall electrified segment."

With a total of 13,169 electrified vehicles sold, Ford cornered 10.9% market share of the segment.

More than 300 small, medium, and large business customers placed orders for 10,000 E-Transit vans, an all-electric version of the Transit. 

With a lineup focused on trucks and SUVs rather than cars, Ford also "saw higher market share," the carmaker said in a release.  

"Vehicles are turning at a record pace on dealer lots, as we work to fill these orders," Vice President for Ford US and Canada Vehicle Sales Andrew Frick said. 

"This year represents a turning point for Ford in electrified vehicles, as our electrified portfolio grew at nearly four times the rate of the industry segment, with E-Transit and F-150 Lightning set to hit the market,” the Ford executive added.
