Ford Claims its 2019 Focus ST is as fast as Honda Civic Type R

MANILA: Ford has made a huge performance claim on its hatchback, 2019 Focus ST. According to the company, the car is as quick as Honda Civic Type R. It has claimed that 2019 Focus ST can attain a speed of 100 kmph in just 5.7 seconds, which is similar to what the hatchback from Honda does. With this statement, it appears that Ford wants to start a rivalry with the Japanese automobile manufacturer.

2019 Focus ST is powered by a 2.3-litre, 4-cylinder engine. In addition to that, the vehicle houses an EcoBoost Turbocharger. It delivers a maximum power output of 276 hp along with a peak torque of 420 Nm. On the other hand, the hatchback from the Japanese car company, Honda Civic Type R, has an engine that delivers a maximum power output of 316 hp along with a peak torque of 400 Nm.

The reason behind 2019 Focus ST can match the sprint speed of Honda is its increased torque. Along with that, an anti-lag system also gives the car an advantage. The vehicle from Ford also comes with active suspension dubbed Continuously Controlled Damping as well. Similar to Honda Civic Type R, it also features electronically selectable suspension settings. Drivers can choose from one of the four settings - Normal, Sport, Track, and Slippery/Wet. 

The car comes with Recardo sports seats that offer ample comfort. The company has provided an eight-inch screen with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto as well. It has a boot space of 375 litres. Features such as Adaptive LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, a rear-view camera, a B&O stereo, and adaptive cruise add to its benefits. Along with that, keyless operation, heated seats along with a heated steering wheel are also provided. Other useful features include park assist, lane assist, evasive steering assist, and autonomous emergency braking.
