Geely Okavango Elite to make formal debut by end of month

MANILA: Geely Motor Philippines is set to launch the newest version of the Okavango Elite on June 30. 

An invite was sent to Zigwheels Philippines showing the latest iteration of the Chinese carmaker’s sport utility vehicle offering, alongside the EX5 electric crossover, which was presented to  the public on February. 

Per the company’s website, the Geely Okavango Elite packs a hybrid powertrain with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a variable valve timing system paired with an electric motor with a lithium-ion battery. 

The said setup makes the following numbers: 

Maximum power (in horsepower)	187
Maximum torque (in Newton-meters)	300

Accompanying the hybrid system are three drive modes, which we have listed here: 

• Normal
• Eco 
• Sport

Stopping power comes from disc brakes, front and back. Meanwhile, its suspension is comprised of MacPhresons at the fore and a composite multi-link rigid axle arrangement at the rear. 

It rides on 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels wrapped with 225/55 series tires.

• 12.3-inch instrument cluster

Literature from the company’s website points to the possibility that the Elite variant will replace all existing grades of the Okavango nameplate and will be the sole trim available for the nameplate.
