Grab partners get preferential EV charging rates at ACMobility, EVOxCharge stations

MANILA: Grab Philippines has forged strategic partnerships with ACMobility and EVOxCharge that will give electric taxi and transport network vehicle service operators preferential rates on the Ayala-operated electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much can Grab EV drivers save on charging via its new partnership with ACMobility and EVOxCharge.

Eligible Grab drivers can enjoy up to 45 percent in discounts at more than 600 ACMobility and EVOxCharge stations nationwide.
  • How can Grab drivers avail of the charging discounts?

Grab drivers can avail of the aforementioned charging discounts by providing Grab Philippines with their email address linked to their Evro app or xCharge+ accounts. Said discounts can be accessed once these are approved and whitelisted.
  • Grab Philippines explained that the newly-formed alliance would result in charging rates being reduced by as much as 45 percent across more than 600 stations nationwide. This would also address two issues surrounding sustainable public mobility: charging availability and cost.

In a statement, Grab claimed that the agreements form part of its EcoDrive program, a broader push to make fleet electrification commercially viable by addressing key adoption barriers including vehicle access, financing, operating costs, and charging availability.

The tie-ups are expected to benefit Grab’s partner operators and drivers across all cities where Grab, ACMobility and EVOxCharge have an operating presence.

The move supports the Philippines’ shift to low-carbon transport and the goals of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), which seeks to accelerate EV adoption and build out supporting infrastructure.

Grab Philippines mentioned that the preferential charging access is expected to further improve the economics of operating an EV on the Grab platform, as driver-partners can take advantage of “meaningfully-lower rates” compared to prevailing market levels.

“Sustainability can no longer be treated as just a green movement. For us, it has become a kabuhayan commitment,” Grab Financial Group Philippines Country Head CJ Lacsican was quoted as saying.

“Through these partnerships, we are building the support system needed for more drivers to confidently consider electrification — not only as a cleaner transport choice, but as a livelihood resilience strategy amid the volatile fuel market. Ultimately, the goal is shared by the entire sector: to protect the livelihood of our transport professionals, while also protecting the everyday movement of the communities they serve,” the executive added.

    How the program works

Under the alliance, Grab driver partners can access ChargeFleet, a digital fleet management platform that enables drivers and fleet operators to disburse, track, and manage EV charging credits more efficiently. Per Grab, this will streamlines shift changes between drivers, maximizing uptime and easing administrative tasks.

ChargeFleet is incorporated in the Evro app, which allows EV drivers to locate Department of Energy-accredited charging points, including ACMobility's network of more than 500 charge points as well as fuel stations, malls, hotels, retail shops, and office and residential buildings that offer such service.

On the other hand, EVOxCharge operates a growing network of over 130 charge points, anchored by its flagship hub at the TDG InHub in Taguig, alongside strategic retail locations at SM and S&R — pairing destination charging with the high-turnaround infrastructure required for rapid, en-route charging. It also offers integrated fleet management through its xCharge+ platform that allow Grab and its partners to streamline daily operations and simplify driver management.

    How to avail discounted rates

To qualify for the discounted charging rates, GrabTaxi Electric and GrabCar Electric operators and driver-partners may register by providing Grab with the email address used for their Evro or xCharge+ account, allowing them to be whitelisted under the program.

"Through ACMobility's ChargeFleet, our mission is to support Grab's transition to EVs by streamlining fleet management. This solution makes EV taxi operations more efficient while reducing costs. Through this partnership, we are building an ecosystem that supports cleaner mobility and the livelihood of drivers who keep our cities moving," ACMobility Head of Mobility Infrastructure Carla Buencamino noted.

Meanwhile, EVOxCharge Vice President and General Manager Derrick Tolentino said that it is committed to supporting the country’s EV transition by expanding access to convenient and cost-effective charging solutions.

“Our track record in powering high-demand commercial fleets has given us first-hand insight into what it takes to keep professional drivers moving. By working with Grab, we are bringing that specialized expertise directly to taxi and ride-hailing partners whose daily operations stand to gain the most from lower energy costs,” he added.

Moving forward, Grab Philippines vowed to continue working with charging operators, vehicle makers, financial institutions, and public-sector partners to strengthen the ecosystem for an inclusive and accessible green transition in transport.
