Hyundai Accent likely to rejoin PH roster

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) is in the business of bringing back nameplates once available in the country as the Accent nameplate might soon rejoin its roster.

Recently, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has released documents pertaining to the subcompact sedan probable launch.

The Korean automaker’s arm in the country has yet to formally announce its plan to unveil as well as other details regarding the vehicle, but here are some pieces of information about the nameplate as stated in the homologation papers.

Vehicle specifications

Based on the papers from LTO, the Hyundai Accent has the following measurements:

Depending on the trim, the vehicle will come with either 15- (wrapped in 185/65 tires) or 16-inch wheels (in 205/55 rubbers).

Powering the yet-to-be-unveiled Philippine-spec Hyundai Accent is a 1.5-liter gasoline-powered mill that helps the car reach a peak speed of 190 kilometers per hour.

Checking its counterpart in other markets (particularly Vietnam and India markets), the upcoming Hyundai Accent might arrive in a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox or in intelligent variable transmission (though Zigwheels Philippines is banking more on the latter).

Further, the Hyundai Accent registered to the LTO comes in two variants (both of which are equipped with automatic transmissions):

• Standard
• Premium

To recall, the Hyundai Elantra was revived in April 2024 with the introduction of the N sub-brand. On the other hand, the Kona nameplate rejoined the local roster last week, which now comes in hybrid configuration.
