Hyundai brings back Kona to PH market, now in HEV form

MANILA: Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) has formally re-introduced the Kona nameplate and now comes as a new energy vehicle offering.

The Korean automaker’s newest product was revealed at the opening day of the ongoing Hyundai Mobility Experience (HME) at Bonifacio Global City.

In a statement HMPH expressed renewed confidence in the latest offering, saying that the Kona’s return “further fortifies” its presence in the country.

“The second-generation Hyundai Kona is built for the passion-driven. While it retains its reputable character in supporting the active lifestyle of consumers, the all-new model comes with new features and conveniences, promising an exciting experience for those who are looking for more meaningful drives as they pursue their daily grind,” the company added.

To recall, the comebacking subcompact sport utility vehicle (SUV) first entered the country in 2018 (as a pure internal-combustion-engine-powered model) but was pulled out afterwards prior to the mother company taking over the local distributorship from its previous partner.

Here’s what you need to know about the all-new Hyundai Kona Hybrid.

Its cargo space allows the vehicle to haul up to 1,241 liters.

Powering the hybrid crossover is a 1.6-liter engine with electric motor (in hybrid configuration) that can dish out:

Power is sent to the wheels via the six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. This also comes with Smart Regenerative Braking and e-Motion Drive.
