All-new Hyundai Kona to be revealed at this week’s HME?

MANILA: This week’s Hyundai Mobility Experience (HME) might serve as the launch pad for the comebacking Kona.

In a statement, Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) shared that for the first day of the event, it will reintroduce an iconic nameplate to kick off the festivities set on June 20-22 at the Bonifacio High Street (BHS) Amphitheater.

“This will mark the return of one of the brand’s subcompact SUVs, sporting a redefined look while exhibiting the same unique and stylish vibe of its predecessor,” HMPH mentioned.

To recall, the company sent a save-the-date invitation to Zigwheels Philippines that shows a portion of the yellow-greenish painted vehicle, which showed its emblem and a horizontal  light bar resembling the one seen in the aforementioned nameplate.

The said material came with the phrase “a new vibe is coming your way” which fits the Hyundai Kona’s tagline, “move with the vibe.” 

As of publishing time, HMPH has yet to share details about the soon-to-be-sold model, but here are some bits of information about it as seen in markets abroad.

• Blind spot collision avoidance assist
• Blind spot collision warning
• Rear cross traffic alert
• Reverse parking collision-avoidance assist reverse
• Remote smart parking assist
• Highway driving assist
• Forward collision-avoidance assist with junction turning
• Lane keep assist

The said model is expected to compete against the Toyota Raize, Kia Sonet, and the Suzuki Fronx, which was locally previewed recently.

Other activities in this week’s HME

Aside from the possible reveal of the Hyundai Kona, the upcoming HME will be filled with activities, a display of the latest Hyundai line-up, and performances by famous local artists.

Festivities in the evening will include a special concert featuring Lola Amour, Sam Concepcion, and Sarah Geronimo.

HMPH’s full line-up in the country shall also be showcased and are available for test drives on June 21-22. These are the:

• Custin
• Elantra
• Creta
• Ioniq 5
• Staria
• Stargazer
• Santa Fe
• Tucson

The vehicle distributor will also highlight its motorsport heritage at the N Corner (to be located at the C1 Park), wherein it will display the Ioniq 5 and Elantra N and put up a virtual simulator where N-thusiasts can race to win exclusive N merchandise.

HME-exclusive freebies await event goers. Those who register at the display will be given a free cup of Araro Gelato. Additionally, customers who either test drive a Hyundai, or place a reservation get a free Hyundai-branded Knowell bag. One equivalent backpack will be donated to a chosen foundation for every reservation made as part of Hyundai and Knowell’s donate-a-bag initiative.

Exclusive discounts as much as P10,000 will also be accorded to clients who will pre-order any variant of the Stargazer and Creta.

Lastly, HMPH will also put up an Aftersales Mobility For All Hub. Here, a robotics workshop hosted by Robothink will be open to kids aged 5-12, where children can learn the basics of simple engineering by creating their own mini electric cars.

The workshops will run from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. on the weekend.

A Furbility Photobooth will also be available to visitors who will bring their pets to the display. All these can be enjoyed alongside the Hyundai Genuine Parts information display — a dedicated aftersales corner with a pre-booking service area.
