Hyundai IONIQ, Big Plans for Geneva Motor Show 2016: One car, Three Hearts
MANILA: We have seen cars that have the capability to run on the contemporary power source (fuel) along with eco-friendly technology (either a motor or electricity), which the world knows as Hybrid Cars. Take for example Toyota Prius, a car that combines fuel and motor potential. On the other, we also have Tesla cars that run purely on electricity. Now, as for latest information, we are hearing straight from Hyundai newsroom that the company is about to unveil its new creation IONIQ that will be energised by not 2 but 3 powertrains. It's the first time in the history of the auto world that a car manufacturer is coming up with a single model, available in three power options.
Hyundai IONIQ first made an appearance back in December 2015, wherein the company showcased an outlined image of its 3 mill powered car. That first stage blueprint took the whole auto world by storm, sending chills down its competitor spine. Time passed by, December ended, new year came, we heard nothing more for Hyundai on IONIQ. Now when the second month is about to end and all eyes are on Geneva Auto Show 2016, Hyundai announced IONIQ debut.
We hope by now you have understood, what's going inside Hyundai's big brain. Yes, the brand has confirmed IONIQ first showcasing at the biggest auto show in the world, the one that takes place in Geneva every year.
Let's now get into detail what Hyundai booth will offer at the upcoming show -
- The IONIQ lineup will consist of three cars in total - IONIQ Hybrid, IONIQ Electronic and IONIQ Plug-in.
- IONIQ Hybrid: This one is a combination of new Kappa 1.6 GDI 4 CYL petrol engine and 45kW of electric motor. Together, both will efficiently generate a maximum power of 141 PS along with a peak torque of 265 Nm. Though it's a hybrid car, still it doesn't fall short in delivering good performance figure of 185 km/h.
- IONIQ Electric: A pure electric version, delivering high performance with minimum environmental damage. Its 28 kW of battery generates 120 PS of power and 295 Nm of torque, proving it to be a strong rival against its fuel counterparts. Further the company claims to run 250 km in one full charge.
- IONIQ Plug-in: Similar to the Hybrid trim this one too comes attached with a 1.6 GDI gasoline engine. The only difference being that in place of an electric motor, it has a 61 PS lithium-ion-polymer battery that can go for good 50 km in one go.
What remains same throughout:
All three versions of IONIQ are similar when it comes to exterior body design, interior tech and safety front. In short, all will have an aerodynamic best-in-class exterior image, cabin amenities that will improve the driving experience by manifold and safety features that will keep you and your family safe.
