Hyundai Lafesta revealed at 2018 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition

MANILA: We experience a lot of new things in the automobile industry every day. But today is a little different than most of the other days. Hyundai, the Korean company has showcased a new car at the 2018 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition. However, the most intriguing fact about this new debut is that it would be a China-only model, but the name isn’t so relevant. In fact, the name “Lafesta” is derived from the Italian word “Fiesta”.

The Director and Head of Hyundai China Design has said that the attitude of Chinese automobile enthusiasts is evolving very quickly as they are transforming themselves into more creative and positive people when it comes to technology and other developments. Hence, the Lafesta, which is based on the “Sensuous Sportiness” design, will depict the changing trend.

When you look at the Hyundai Lafesta, you will find that this is something very new, very different than what other companies ever tried making. It is very sleek in design with a coupe-ish rear end. However, there is also a blend of sportiness added to the car. The Lafesta has the company’s signature Cascading grille design with tapered headlights up front.

Though the company has not provided any images of the interior design or layout, it did mention that the cabin will be extremely spacious and driver-centric. Of course, this means high detailing on the dashboard and console can be expected. We can even expect a futuristic cockpit-like console. The ergonomics for the driver and passengers will be comfortable.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Lafesta would be powered by a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine and with the help of direct injection, it could nearly reach 200 horsepower, though official revelation is yet to come. The power would be sent down to the front wheels via a dual-clutch, 7-speed transmission.

Considering how luxurious and sporty the new Lafesta looks, Hyundai may be offering a good number of safety features, including parking sensors on front and rear, parking camera, up to six airbags, etc. It might go on sale in China in the latter part of this year. However, the introduction in the Philippines or any other part of the world is still doubtful.
