Isuzu PH to bring in 'updated' D-Max

MANILA: Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) is set to unveil the updated version of the D-Max next month.

In a statement, the Japanese automaker’s local distributor shared that the pick-up truck’s upcoming iteration shall be officially revealed on June 20 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) in Pasay City — to be immediately followed by a display and test drive activity at Block of the SM MOA Complex.

Without sharing specific details about the vehicle, IPC claimed that the forthcoming Isuzu D-Max will be the “most advanced model yet” as it features cutting-edge off-road capabilities, enhanced safety features, and state-of-the-art technology that meet the current demands of the pick-up market.

The company expressed confidence that with the D-Max’s latest version, it is ready to invigorate the market. To note, the Philippines will be the third ASEAN country to bring in the aforementioned model.

“This new Isuzu D-MAX will be loaded with features that the market will truly enjoy. It comes from the process of listening to our clients and assessing their needs so that ultimately, we can provide to them a pick-up that is capable of bringing them ‘Into New Heights’,” IPC Assistant Sales Division Head Robert Carlos said.

Possible features

While waiting for the official details to be announced, here are the possible specifications of the new Isuzu D-Max as seen in overseas markets.

Since the vehicle is expected to be spruced-up one, the 2024 Isuzu D-Max will likely be powered by the same engine options as the outgoing version namely the 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX Blue Power Diesel Engine (which can deliver up to 187 horsepower [hp> and 450 Newton-meters [Nm> ) and the 1.9-liter RZ4E-TC Blue Power Diesel Engine (which offers a peak churn of 148 hp and 350 Nm).

In terms of aesthetics, the arriving vehicle will likely have the same look as the version seen in Malaysia. The aforementioned version replaced the vents in the grille’s lower portion with largely-holed honeycomb-like design — making it more athletic looking than ever.

Safety-wise, the incoming Isuzu D-Max could also be equipped with an intelligent driver assistance system which include forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking, turn assist, pedal misapplication mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, as well as rear cross traffic alert and braking.

Also, the new Isuzu D-Max might have a slight bump on its current pricing, which currently ranges from P917,000-P1.905 million.
