Jaguar to Pursue 59-year Old Dream, Will Showcase Continuation XESS this November
MANILA: It's a rare chance that you have ever heard about Jaguar XKSS. The said classic was built out of Jaguar racer car the D-Type, the top-tier car that holds three consecutive wins at Le Mans. Going further down the history lane, you'll find that this legendary British automaker in 1956 announced its departure from the zooming world of motorsports racing. As a result, the company warehouse was left with some spare unsold D-Types. All lying around, getting covered in thick layer of dust and old memories.
Seeing these cars getting wasted around, company’s co-founder Sir Williams Lyons had an amazing thought. He decided to convert the 25-unsold D-Types into on-road production models. So that they can fulfill their destiny of roaming around, if not on race track then at least on civil roads. But fate had something else planned, the brutal fire of 1957 at Browns Lane factory, engulfed nine D-Types cars. Thus, leaving the planned roadster conversion to just 16 cars. And now, as per the recent announcement by Jaguar's Classic division, the company will now complete the production process of the remaining the said nine cars.
If you are wondering, how Jaguar will build or justify yester year charm of XKSS. Then we'll like to inform you that it will be using techniques that its team learned while re-creating continuation series of Lightweight E-Type. Also, don't confuse the LA Auto Show debuting new XKSS with a car that hides modern mechanism under a classic shell. According to sources, company's classic wing employees will be building XKSS in accordance to its original specifications.

1. A higher windshield, compared to D-Type 2. Added passenger doors 3. Cabin partition 4. Absence of fin that was earlier present behind driver's seat in D-Type 5. Resting under its hood will be present a 3.4L dry-sump in-line 6-CYL petrol mill that powered the roadster too and generated around 250 hp of power
In addition, we'll also like inform you that along with revived XKSS, Jaguar has also recently presented continuation model of Lightweight E-Type. This new E-Type participated in Circuit de la Sarthe that took place on 9th July.
Lastly, we'd like to inform you that all the nine units of this 1957 year beauty are sold out at a whopping cost of PhP 61.71 million. The deliveries of the same are scheduled for early 2017.
