Mazda unveils EZ-60 at Auto Shanghai 2025

MANILA: Mazda has unveiled the EZ-60 all-electric crossover at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai). 

According to the car brand, the said model is its second electric vehicle (EV) developed together with Changan Automobile. As such, it is designed to cater to the needs of the Chinese market. 

“We are very pleased to unveil our second new electric vehicle which brings together the strengths of Mazda and Changan Automobile this year that marks the 20th anniversary of Changan Mazda, and we feel truly grateful for the support of our customers in China,” President and Chief Executive Officer of Mazda Motor Corporation Masahiro Moro said. 

“The Mazda EZ-60 is an electric SUV that combines the inherent appeal of the automobile with advanced features that appeal to Chinese customers who embrace the new and advanced. In addition to the Mazda EZ-6, which was launched in the Chinese market last year and received positive feedback, we will challenge ourselves to break new ground for Mazda’s business in China with this new model in the highly competitive Chinese market,” Moro added. 

For its powertrain, the Mazda EZ-60 will be available as an EV and as a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV). Not much was shared about its available propulsion systems, but the EV will boast a driving range of around 600 kilometers (km). The PHEV version, on the other hand, will have a driving range of 1,000 km. 

Additionally, the nameplate features electronically controlled dampers that respond to varying road conditions. It also has a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution for better driving engagement. 

Inside, it will come with a host of advanced features, such as a 26.45-inch 5K flat-panel center display, a three-dimensional heads-up display, and a smart cockpit that accepts voice, touch, or gesture commands. 

Sound inside the cabin will be output by a 23-piece 3D sound system. Individual user speakers (mounted on the front seats) will allow the driver and front passenger to listen to different music at the same time. 

Style-wise, the pictures of the pre-production Mazda EZ-60 boast a sleek design that follows the “Future + Soul x Modern” theme.

Notably, the said model is will “go on sale in China in 2025.” We can expect more details about the EZ-60’s specifications and features once Mazda starts its sales period.
