Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Breaks Cover at New York Auto Show

MANILA: A treat for Benz lovers is on at the New York International Auto Show 2016 where the premium luxury car brand, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the GLC Coupe, which is available in two trim levels, GLC300 Coupe and GLC43 AMG. In as a replacement for GLK class, the new GLC was teased earlier, which accounted for the loud buzz around the automotive world.

To start off, the coupe-inspired styling that extends the roofline lower down towards the end gives a sporty coupe look to the vehicle. The front is adorned with signature diamond grille, refreshed air dam and the bold headlamps with LEDs. While the rear end is dressed with wrap-around tail lights, dual exhaust pipes and revised bumper.

The tweaks on its exterior styling lines and sweeping shoulder line gives it a sporty and appealing look. Shedding some weight (now 1710 Kg) due to the presence of aluminum and high-tensile steel in the making, the GLC coupe takes an upper hand over its arch rival BMW X4.

The interior is somewhat similar to the conventional GLC with some tits and bits done to its centre console. However, the ambiance inside is still pleasing to eyes as the GLC Coupe features an individual center console, leather wrapped seats and upholstery, grey color tone, flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel, MID and the COMAND infotainment system. It seems that Mercedes has again proven its excellence in providing more plush interiors and features maintaining its distinct class in the league.

Being available in five different transmission modes namely Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual, the GLC is offered with two engine choices, 2.0-litre turbo and 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6. The former will power the GLC300 Coupe with power output of 244 PS and a peak torque of 370 Nm, whereas the latter engine will be a part of GLC43 AMG with a max power of 367 PS and 520 Nm of torque. 4MATIC all-wheel drive system comes as standard in both the models.

The Head of Design at Daimler AG, Mr. Gorden Wagener said, “The GLC Coupe reflects our iconic Mercedes-Benz coupe design while symbolizing the diversity of our brand – it is both 'hot and cool'. With its design idiom of sensual purity, it perfectly embodies our styling philosophy while at the same time representing contemporary luxury.”

The brand is confident to generate good sales number with this new model that would certainly attract the young if not the older ones. The looks are drooling, engine is packed with power and interior is adequately designed, which is good enough to entice the world.
