Mitsubishi produces around 400k units globally from Jan-May 2026

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has produced a total of 388,031 vehicles globally in the first five months of 2026. The aforementioned figure is equivalent to a 105.6 percent year-on-year increase for the brand. 

Of the said figure, 174,668 units were produced at Mitsubishi’s factories worldwide from January-May 2026. Meanwhile, 213,363 units were made in Japan in the same period.

In May 2026 alone, the Japanese marque’s global production facilities have rolled out 65,645 units. In the same month, its international factories produced a total of 31,993 units, while 33,653 units were produced in its home country. 

As of this writing, Mitsubishi has not published its global sales figures, but it was disclosed that the brand handed over 55,202 units to its Japanese customers from January-May this year. In the same timeframe, Mitsubishi’s Japan arm has exported 100,620 units to other parts of the world.

According to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI), Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) ranks second in the country’s sales charts for January-May 2026. 

Specifically, it has sold a total of 29,785 vehicles within the aforementioned timeframe, thus securing a market share of 17.8 percent amongst CAMPI member brands. 

Notably, has recently made significant moves in the local market to consolidate its position. One of these was the recent introduction of the Xforce GLX - the said nameplate’s new entry-level variant retailing at P1.119 million, making the crossover model more accessible to more buyers. 

Earlier last month, Mitsubishi’s local arm showcased the Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). It will launch sometime in August 2026 and spearhead MMPC’s electrified thrust in the market. 

Back in April 2026, MMPC likewise announced its intention to begin producing hybrid vehicles locally. The company is eyeing to start this in 2028 at its manufacturing facility in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
