Newbie cadet karter Trinidad finishes at podium in IAME Series 2024 initial legs

MANILA: Maximino Sabastian Trinidad continues to bag awards at the Italian American Motor Engineering (IAME) Series-Philippines he recently finished the first two rounds for 2024 cadet division at the podium.

The seven-year-old go-kart racer finished the first round (held last month) at second place and for the second round (conducted over the weekend), at the third spot.

Trinidad’s latest string of awards is part of the recognitions that he had received since he started in the discipline under Bambino category when he was five years old. From 2022-2023, he consistently brought home gold, silver, and bronze trophies under Blanco Race Engineering (BRE).

At a young age, Trinidad was trained by Team BRE under Coach Pacho Blanco to make decisions instinctively on the racetrack. According to his parents Ronaldo and Christinni Joy, motorsport taught their child discipline, determination, and perseverance during the race and off the track.

Since the kid’s father is taller, height and weight have been Trinidad’s constant challenge. While the four-kilogram difference plays negatively in straight lines, the young racer sees it as an advantage during hairpin turns.

This year’s IAME Series Philippines Cadet division will have a total of seven rounds. Designed for ages 7-12 years, which would give Trinidad five years to develop more for the coming seasons. However, Ronaldo is mulling on the idea of moving up the young racer to junior division if the kid grew faster and bigger than other competitors.
