Nissan tops 2025 JD Power IQS mass market list in US

MANILA: Amid the financial struggle that it is currently enduring, Nissan still sees rainbows as it got the highest ranking in the J.D. Power 2025 Initial Quality Study (IQS) mass-market brands list in the United States (US).

Based on the results of the study, the Japanese automaker showed the lowest number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) among all mass-market competitors after scoring 169 PP100 — demonstrating significant improvements in quality and customer experience.

Per Nissan, the recognition from J.D. Power as the top-performing Mass-Market brand in initial quality reflects its “customer-centric commitment to producing vehicles that deliver quality and customer satisfaction.”

Trailing Nissan in the same study under the mass market category are Hyundai (173 PP100) and Chevrolet (178 PP100).

Relatedly, Nissan came second in the industry overall — following Toyota’s premium market subsidiary Lexus led the overall rankings with 166 PP100.

Nissan’s segment leaders in 2025 JD Power US IQS

As shared by the testers, the 2025 JD Power US IQS also showed several Nissan models standing out in their respective segments:

• Nissan Altima: Ranked highest in the Midsize Car segment
• Nissan Sentra: Ranked highest in the Compact Car segment
• Nissan Rogue, Frontier, and Pathfinder: Within top three in their respective segments

To note, the Altima’s counterpart in the Philippines was the previously retailed Sylphy while the Frontier is the US-spec Navara.

 Now in its 39th year, the J.D. Power US IQS analyzes responses of purchasers and lessees of new 2025 model-year vehicles. It covers 223 specific problems across nine vehicle categories, ranging from infotainment and features to driving experience and build quality.
