NLEX Road Warriors, Cavitex Braves Lead MPT South’s Basketball Camp

MANILA: Metro Pacific Tollways (MPT) South, in partnership with NLEX Road Warriors and Cavitex Braves, hosted a two-leg basketball camp to show its support for the young athletes in its communities.

The first leg of the basketball camp was held at Cittadini School Gymnasium in San Pedro, Laguna on June 10 in partnership with La Marea Homeowners Association. The second leg, on the other hand, was conducted at General Trias Sports Complex on June 17 in collaboration with the City Government of General Trias, Cavite through the initiative of Mayor Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer and Board Member Maurito “Morit” Sison.

Aspiring young athletes from the communities, ages 7 to 15, got the chance to improve their skills through the camp and learn from NLEX Road Warriors and Cavitex Braves players as well as NLEX Road Warriors basketball clinic coach, Coach Ford Arao.

Campers were divided into teams and went on immersive activities at the basketball camp. They had a great time honing their fundamental basketball skills by taking part in a variety of physical drills and exercises. The program provided the young athletes an in-depth learning experience where they explored everything from perfecting their dribbling and passing strategies to enhancing their defensive, rebounding, and shooting skills.

“We at MPT South recognize the importance of sport in promoting physical fitness and character-building for our youth. Hence, in partnership with NLEX Road Warriors and Cavitex Braves, the clinic aspires to provide an enjoyable environment where these kids can learn basketball skills and develop character to help empower them on- and off-court,” MPT South Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management Arlette Capistrano stated.

The participants also got the opportunity to hear inspirational talks from NLEX Road Warriors and Cavitex Braves players. In order to give the aspiring athletes the full experience, friendly games were also conducted among them.

Local government unit partners lauded the success of the basketball clinics, noting the advantages they provided to the young people in the communities.

The impact of this initiative on the children in our community cannot be overstated. By providing them with this opportunity to enhance their skills, particularly in fostering camaraderie, MPT South is playing a vital role in helping these young individuals build a solid foundation for their sports aspirations,” Ferrer said.
