PIMS 2016 Scheduled Between 14th and 18th September 2016

MANILA: We have recently witnessed the MIAS 2016 which was scheduled between April 7th & 10th and was a big hit in the country. While this auto show was successful in delivering what it meant to – auto knowledge, launches, fun, activities and some serious business, it brought some disappointment among the visitors when it failed to fetch some of the prominent automakers to the grounds. Well, bygones are bygones and it won't be a good idea to dig that old story again. But the best part is that the Philippines is again going to be a host of yet another auto event – PIMS or Philippine International Motor Show 2016, which is even a bigger platform than the MIAS 2016. Before we boast more about the PIMS 2016, let's tell you that this event is scheduled between 14th and 18th September 2016 at the WTC Metro Manila.

So, the organisers have not released any details as such yet but that can't stop us telling our readers more about the upcoming event and what significance it has for the Filipino auto enthusiasts. Starting with the history of this auto event, it was first held in the year 2007 and then in the year 2008. After that, the auto show was made biennial and it was organised in the years 2010, 2012 for the third and fourth time. The last, fifth edition of Philippine International Motor Show was a 4-day event held between 18th and 21st September 2014. That year 17 top automotive brands – Mazda, Jeep, Lexus, KIA, JMC, Isuzu, BAIC, Daewoo, Honda, Volkswagen, Toyota, Suzuki, Nissan, Peugeot, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi and BMW showed up at the PIMS grounds. These brands not only showed up with their updated fleet but also flaunted the new technologies and services.

In the 5th edition, PIMS carried 'Progress in Motion' theme and highlighted the role of the Philippines automotive industry in propelling the country's economic growth. The manufacturers, apart from their regular fleet, also showcased iconic vehicles at the exhibition which exemplified the historical evolution of the Philippines automotive industry. The footfall recorded during PIMS 2014 at its ground was approximately 90,000 which was almost double of what the 4th PIMS experienced. Truly, this was a remarkable number to achieve and that's what make an event successful. For this year, the participants' list is not out yet and we can only make a close guess for our readers. Since various automakers skipped the MIAS 2016 for some or other reasons, they are expected to mark their attendance at this upcoming show. Also, PIMS has recorded a bigger and better visitors' record over the years, so no automaker would like to skip this opportunity to showcase its fleet and technology.

Still there are 3 months left for the show and we expect that the show will contribute in further boosting the overall automotive market of the country, as already the Q1 sales data signifies a significant growth in comparison to last year. Rest of the details, like manufacturers who are participating, expected launches & showcases and event area layout, might get out in open officially by the end of July 2016 so that the prospective visitors may save the date. We are keeping a close eye on this for our readers for any updates. So, till then, stay tuned!
