VinFast logs 3,520 EV orders in one day in Vietnam— can PH replicate?

MANILA: On a single Saturday, specifically on March 28, 2026, VinFast saw a whopping 3,520 vehicle orders - a huge milestone that the brand has described as an event when the “electric vehicle (EV) stars align.”

Notably, the said single-day sales rush for the electric vehicle marque occurred in its home country of Vietnam. And no, it wasn’t attributed to any major campaign or quarter-end push, but rather to the organic result of several factors. 

Key among the aforementioned includes the “ecosystem” that the Vietnamese EV manufacturer has been building over the years. In its home country, this includes a vast charging infrastructure courtesy of V-Green, numerous partners that provide a widespread vehicle service coverage, strong financial services and incentives for those who want to switch from fossil fuel cars to EVs, the Green GSM all-electric transport provider, and many others.

With regard to its charging network, VinFast is further beefing it up with plans for 150,000 charging ports across 34 provinces in Vietnam. This includes a total of 99 ultra-fast charging (150-kilowatt-hour) hubs to be located along the country’s national and provincial highways. 

These key elements, VinFast says, are the driving force behind the demand for its vehicles in its home country and why we see events like the one that transpired back on March 28. 

Interestingly enough, the company says that a similar ecosystem is taking shape in the Philippine market. 

Specifically, V-Green has already teamed up with the local electric utility provider, MERALCO, to identify areas that need charging stations. More recently, more and more V-Green charging hubs are taking shape as well. 

In terms of financing programs, the brand’s local arm has also partnered with local banks such as Maybank and BDO Unibank Incorporated.

A number of local service partners have also been brought in to provide quality service for local VinFast EV owners. 

Then again, VinFast is already making a huge splash in the local EV market, aiming to reach the top spot in Philippine battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales by the end of 2026. The aforementioned was shared with the public by Chief Executive Officer for VinFast Philippines and Southeast Asia, Antonio Zara, during the inFast x Maybank From Fuel to Future electric vehicle symposium. 

On that note, it could only be a short wait until the Philippines sees an event where the “EV stars align.”
