VinFast eyes to hit top spot in PH BEV sales rankings by end of 2026
Fearless prediction shared during brand’s latest EV symposium
MANILA: The Chief Executive Officer for VinFast Philippines and Southeast Asia Antonio Zara shared that the marque’s local arm will rise as the number one battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand by the end of 2026.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Who predicted that VinFast will be the number one BEV-focused brand in the Philippines by the end of 2026?
The said prediction was confirmed by VinFast Philippines and Southeast Asia CEO Antonio Zara.Until when is the free charging at V-Green stations available?
The free charging at V-Green stations are now available until March 2029.The said statement was mentioned publicly by the VinFast top executive during the VinFast x Maybank From Fuel to Future electric vehicle symposium. Initially, the subject was opened by the Director IV of the Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Utilization Management Bureau, Patrick Aquino, during an open mic session, and was later confirmed by Zara.
“I have no doubt that we will be the number one BEV brand in the Philippines,” Zara said.
Let us analyze the aforementioned based on what we know.
Photo by Cesar Guiderone MiguelFor starters, the current BEV-focused brand in the country right now (brands that only sell full EVs) is Tesla. In October 2025, a prior report with figures from Tesla’s local arm itself said that it already retailed more than 2,200 as of November 2025. The aforementioned places the American EV brand as the top BEV provider in the country that year.

The catch is that Tesla models are positioned much higher price-wise compared to VinFast’s offerings.
For reference, the most affordable Tesla nameplate in the country right now is the Model 3, with its entry-level Standard trim being offered at P1.838 million. Compare that to the VinFast VF3, which can be bought with a battery subscription for just P590,000.
On the flip side, being affordable doesn’t necessarily translate into actual sales performance (as shown in 2025 by Tesla), but there are reports that buyers are apparently scrambling to get their hands on EVs right now due to skyrocketing fuel prices stemming from the Iran conflict. In this case, most would-be EV adopters will certainly gravitate towards highly accessible brands such as VinFast.
And of course, there’s also the claims of the DOE, which hold water since it closely monitors EV car sales in the country.

When we’re being asked, in terms of pure sales, I think for BEVs, and by numbers we are seeing, kaya yan ang hinala namin, [that’s why that’s our guess>,” Aquino said.
On that note, VinFast could be in the perfect position right now to make Zara’s bold prediction a reality. This, of course, is supported by VinFast’s lineup of initiatives that will help drive up its market performance. The aforementioned includes:
- Residual Value Guarantee Program - buyback rate of up to 90 percent after six months, and up to 70 percent after three years of ownership.
- Green GSM - all-electric ride-hailing and TNVS initiative that uses VinFast-made vehicles.
- Green Vehicle Rental Program - car rental that offers VinFast vehicles
- Battery Subscription Program - guarantees lower initial vehicle acquisition costs and includes coverage for battery maintenance and replacement.
- Trade Gas for Electric Program - Provides up to three percent discount for current internal combustion engine vehicle owners who want to switch to VinFast EV nameplates.
Likewise declared at the symposium was the further extension of the free-charging initiative at all V-Green stations. Specifically, this was extended until March 2029. Initially, the free charging period from V-Green stations was only extended until March 2026.
But what do you think? Will we be seeing VinFast’s BEV dominance as the year ends? Stay tuned for more updates on this.
