Would the all-new Nissan Tekton make sense for PH?

MANILA: Nissan has introduced the Tekton subcompact crossover for the Indian market.

What platform underpinned the Nissan Tekton?
The Nissan Tekton uses the CMF-B, which is under the Renault–Nissan Common Module Family. What are the intended markets for the Nissan Tekton?
The Nissan Tekton was designed for India, Africa, the Middle East, and 50 other markets.According to the brand, the newly introduced nameplate aligns with its Re:Nissan initiative, specifically the program’s mission to introduce a stronger global portfolio of vehicles designed to suit the markets in which they will be launched.
In this case, the Nissan Tekton addressed the needs of India, the Middle East, Africa, and 50 other markets that the brand didn’t specify.
Notably, the model was not produced solely by the Japanese marque. In fact, it uses the CMF-B, which is part of the Renault–Nissan Common Module Family. The Tekton thus shares its bones with European-specific models such as the Renault Duster and several other Dacia products.
“We are building a stronger and more competitive Nissan in India,” Nissan Chief Performance Officer Guillaume Cartier said.
“As we continue to strengthen our SUV-led portfolio and sharpen our market focus, the world premiere of the all-new Nissan Tekton reflects our ambition to leverage strategic partnerships to expand our market coverage. Tekton is a clear expression of how Nissan is transforming with purpose - towards a more competitive, diverse portfolio,” Cartier added.
With that said, the Nissan Tekton isn’t likely to see a launch in the Asian market (including the Philippines). Sure, the local scene still doesn’t have an internal combustion-only alternative to the Nissan Kicks, but do remember that Nissan’s local arm already previewed the subcompact Magnite crossover at the ninth Philippine International Motor Show some time ago.
On the other hand, the Re:Nissan plan could have changed the brand’s global model-release strategy, and the Philippines could be one of the 50 markets mentioned above. In this case, let’s talk about what the Tekton is offering to future would-be adopters in India.

Vehicle specifications
When it comes to powertrains, the Nissan Tekton for the Indian market uses 1.0- and 1.3-liter gasoline engines. Both are turbocharged, with the larger one capable of producing up to 160 horsepower and 280 Newton-meters of torque. Power is sent to its front wheels via a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission, depending on the trim.
Appearance-wise, the Nissan Tekton clearly takes heavy inspiration from the Patrol. In fact, it looks like a miniaturized version of the much larger sport utility vehicle nameplate, complete with inverted L-shaped daytime running lamps, a squarish grille, and an imposing lower front bumper. It even comes with a faux skid plate.
Here are the dimensions of the India-spec Nissan Tekton:

Thanks to these measurements, the Tekton offers ample space for up to five occupants, as well as up to 1,789 liters of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
Inside the model are technologies such as Google-powered connectivity options, a slew of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), and a cabin appointed with premium-level styling and comfort features.
Notably, Nissan’s Indian arm has yet to disclose a full list of specs and features for the Tekton, as it has not hit Indian markets yet.
But what do you think? Would the Nissan Tekton be a good fit for the ASEAN region?
