6D Unveils revolutionary helmets with ODS technology

MANILA: Safety for riders has always been a cause of concern for everyone connected directly or indirectly to the motor riding domain. However, some of the manufacturing firms have taken up giant strides towards getting the safety higher. Recently, 6D, which is an American firm, unveiled a revolutionary product in the field of motorcycle safety.

The revolutionary helmet, which is presently the talk of the town in motor racing and other competitive motorsports, helps protect the rider from any serious head injury with the help of suspension fitted within the helmet shell.

 

The new helmets from 6D use the ODS (Omni-Directional Suspension), which sets it apart from any other technology used. The ODS technology essentially reduces the impact and the transfer of energy, in an incident of an unforeseen accident, to the brain. If we get to the mechanism, the helmet uses suspended liner system, which has the ability to displace the impact three-dimensionally.

The technology used by 6D here has been very impressive right from the first instance of it being showcased. Back in 2015, it was chosen as the first round winner in the Head Health Challenge III material safety grant programme of NFL.

A lot of medical researchers conclude that the severity of any concussion may be evident in the long run as well. Hence, what may seem to be a minor blow, can end up having a severe impact in the long run. However, even after such reports, helmet certification bodies often ignore the critical performance and focus more on the testing of a high-velocity impact.

The Elastomeric Isolation Dampers are the major components that work by isolating the impact away from the brain. The progressive spring rate is maintained by the elastic tendency and hourglass shape. And with this technology working behind the system, the ODS helmets from 6D can outperform the regular potential velocity impact helmets as they reduce the severity by diverting pressure off the brain.

So, the ODS helmets’ technology from 6D will be one of the major gears that the safety departments around the world would adopt sooner or later.
