Honda updates Gold Wing in celebration of its 50th anniversary

MANILA: Honda has revealed the updated 2025 version of the Gold Wing in celebration of the nameplate’s 50th anniversary. 

Per the motorcycle marque, the 2025 model year version comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It likewise received numerous cosmetic improvements, such as new color options and a series of commemorative badges. 

In addition, the touring motorcycle nameplate was provided with two new special edition trims: the 50th Anniversary Gold Wing and the 50th Anniversary Gold Wing dual-clutch transmission (DCT). 

The two variants feature the same updates as the 2025 model year version, but they boast bolder styling cues. The aforementioned comes via large “Gold Wing” logos on the saddle bags and side fairings, a special 50th Anniversary badge in front of the seat, and a new startup animation for its digital display.

Depending on the market, Gold Wing versions in Eternal Gold, Bordeaux Red Metallic, and Matte Black Metallic are likewise packaged with two gifts: a coffee table book and a 3D 1:12 scale model of the iconic motorcycle. 

To note, the Honda Gold Wing has been around since 1975, and according to the marque, it has maintained its initial purpose of serving as a comfortable long-distance two-wheeler. 

“Honda has introduced many important powersports models over the years, but the Gold Wing is and always will be special because of how it kick started the touring movement and inspired its own dedicated subculture,” Manager of Public Relations at American Honda Colin Miller said. 

“The Gold Wing has long demonstrated Honda’s engineering prowess, but it’s important to note that its development has often been customer-led. For these reasons and many others, the 50th anniversary of the Gold Wing platform is a significant milestone in Honda’s history, and we’re happy to mark the occasion with stunning touches to the 2025 model,” Miller added.

Availability

According to Honda, the updated Gold Wing and its two new 50th anniversary trims will be available for the North American market by March this year.

For now, there’s no word yet from Honda Philippines Incorporated as to when the updated touring bike will reach the local market. 

Philippine-spec Honda Gold Wing

In the Philippines, the sixth-generation SC79 Honda Gold Wing is currently sold with a starting price of P2 million. 

Propelling the touring ride is a 1,833-cubic centimeter single-overhead cam, four-stroke flat-six engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with reverse gearing. At maximum, the said powertrain can generate up to 124 horsepower and 169 Newton-meters of torque.
