Yamaha to debut 5 concepts at JMS 2025

MANILA: Yamaha Motor Corporation is set to join the upcoming Japan Mobility Show 2025 with a lineup of prototypes, most of which will be debuting for the first time ever.

For its lineup of world premier models at the Japan-based mobility show, Yamaha is going to showcase five concept (reference) vehicles, which include the following:

• Motoroid:A
• Tricera proto
• Proto BEV
• H2 Buddy Porter concept
• Y-00B: Base/Bricolage

One of the more eye-catching among the reference models listed above is definitely the Motoroid:A. It was derived from the older Motoroid2 and is an artificial-intelligence-powered, two-wheeled autonomous vehicle touted to be capable of independent decision making and learning. 

Next up is the Tricera Proto - a three-wheeled, open-top reference vehicle with bold and angular design cues, as well as an all-electric engine. Interestingly, the Yamaha Tricera Proto is a working prototype. It utilizes an all-wheel-steering system for quick cornering, and Yamaha’s “alive AD sound control device,” which actively adjusts the three-wheeler’s electric motor to create a lively and engaging sound. 

The Yamaha Proto BEV, meanwhile, is an all-electric sport bike concept, while the H2 Buddy Porter is a hydrogen-powered personal mobility platform. Last but not least is the Y-00B: Base/Bricolage - a power-assisted lineup of bicycles that pay homage to the YA-1, the Japanese company’s first-ever product that was released back in 1955.

Other Yamaha vehicle displays at JMS 2025

Apart from the ones mentioned above, the motorcycle manufacturer will be showcasing a bunch of prototypes at JMS 2025. 

Some that caught are eye include the Yamaha Proto hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and the Proto plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The former comes in the form of a sporty moped, while the latter has an aggressive naked sport bike styling. 

There’s also the Yamaha Nactus VS Tre-X, a three-wheeled electric-powered wheelchair, which is touted to be capable of handling rough terrain and unpaved paths. Interestingly, this wheelchair prototype also has a waterproof battery case and several surfaces that can function as cargo carriers.
