Foton Tunland V7

For the Philippines, the Foton Tunland V7 is being offered with a single interior theme of dual-tone black and tan leather upholstery. Compared to the previous-generation commercial vehicles from Foton, the Tunland V7 has a much richer-looking cabin, which has leather upholstery for the seats, door panels, and upper dashboard layer.

The T-themed four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel of the Foton Tunland V7 has a comprehensive instrument console with analogue gauges and a 7-inch TFT MID between them. The centre console is dominated by a huge 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which has an angularly-placed lower centre console that accommodates rotary knobs for the transmission, audio system, and drive modes.

Finished in a theme gloss black, the lower centre console of the Foton Tunland V7 also has cup holders and Type-C charging ports. The cabin of the Foton Tunland V7 is further equipped with powered front seats, an engine push start-stop button, a cabin air purifier, a 6-speaker audio system and more. For a five-seater cabin, the Foton Tunland V7 feels spacious and comfortable on the inside. 

Inspired by the full-sized F-Series trucks from Ford, the Foton Tunland V7 has a grand road presence, which only gets better with the large dimensions that give it a full-sized appearance. The front grille of the Tunland V7 looks massive and bold, which has a chunky-looking design with the all-black theme and horizontal slats with a chrome garnish on the upper edge. The vertically aligned LED headlamps have tapered edges and come with LED projectors and LED DRLs within them. 

From the side, the Foton Tunland V7 continues to have a grand road presence, with the upright bonnet, muscular and flared wheel arches, and high ground clearance giving it a bossy stance. The Foton Tunland V7 has black-themed alloy wheels, along with door-mounted rearview mirrors and side steps that complement the large size of the Tunland V7. The rear profile of the Foton Tunland V7 has a traditional old-school look with a clean design for the boot lid, a chrome-finished theme for the deck lid handle, and vertically aligned tail lamps with modern LED inserts. 

While the rear-wheel drive version of the Foton Tunland V7 appeals to budget-conscious buyers, the four-wheel drive version of the pickup truck is more appealing for the added versatility it adds to the driving experience. The suspension combination of the Tunland V7 – double wishbone independent suspension at the front and multi-link integral axle suspension at the rear – feels heavy-duty over rougher surfaces, but also feels bouncy at higher speeds. 

The Foton Tunland V7 is being offered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which is available with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. Available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive systems, this diesel engine generates 163 PS of maximum power and 450 Nm of maximum torque. 

The Foton Tunland V7 is generously equipped with a number of modern safety features, the list which includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program, vehicle dynamics control, traction control, brake assist, hill start assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, fatigue driving reminder, cruise control and adjustable speed limit control. 

The global design language and mammoth road presence of the Foton Tunland V7 make for a great first impression, which combines to give it an authoritative persona. With decently sorted mechanicals and a luxurious interior, the Foton Tunland V7 feels a much more accomplished and desirable pickup over previous-generation pickups from the Chinese manufacturer.
