Hongqi HS5

Upon entering the Hongqi HS5, you are greeted by a luxurious cabin filled with premium creature comforts and state-of-the-art technology. Both trims get aluminum trim strips for their cabin, while the higher-spec Flagship is also fitted with a classy carbon fiber trim strip. Up front, this crossover SUV features a dual 12.3-inch display setup comprising the digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen infotainment system. Its infotainment is linked to a 12-speaker BOSE Centerpoint Surround Sound system, delivering high-quality sound acoustics around the cabin.

For starters, the Hongqi HS5 model line measures 4,760 mm in length, 1,907 mm in width, and 1,700 mm in height. This crossover SUV also comes with a 2,870-mm wheelbase.

The Hongqi HS5 features a robust, elegant SUV design. At the front, it flaunts a long Hongqi badge, which extends to its vertical-slatted chrome grille. Its confident-looking fascia is flanked by angular LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The higher-spec Flagship’s headlights also come with an intelligent high beam control function. Underneath, it also gets a pair of geometric fog lamps for more visibility at all times. 

On the sides, its muscular profile is further defined by sleek character lines and elegant-looking 20-inch wheels. This crossover SUV comes with electric retractable and heated exterior mirrors. However, only the Flagship trim gets an automatic adjustment (for reversing) for its mirrors. 

At the back, its rear design exudes a hint of European styling, highlighted by its modern-looking angular LED combination lamps that are connected by a chrome panel on its tailgate. The Hongqi HS5 model line comes with a MacPherson Strut suspension at the front and a Multi-Link at the rear. Its suspension setup is well-tuned for comfort. While it may not be the sharpest when it comes to hitting turns or twists, this crossover SUV still handles decently for its size. 

The Hongqi HS5 model line is powered by a 2L 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 165 kW (221 hp) of maximum power and 340 Nm of maximum torque. This crossover SUV comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission system and offers five driving modes: Economic, Comfort, Sport, Snow, and Off-Road.

The HS5’s engine offers plenty of power and torque on tap, allowing the driver to easily overtake on the highway or take on steep inclines in the provinces. It feels smooth and punchy at high speeds, while the cabin remains impressively quiet thanks to its excellent NVH suppression system. When it comes to fuel economy, this crossover SUV’s engine is better suited for highway cruising and free-flowing city driving than in stop-and-go traffic conditions.

The Hongqi HS5 model line is equipped with a wide range of advanced safety features. This includes blind spot detection, front collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, multiple front and rear parking sensors, multiple airbags, and cruise control (super adaptive for the Flagship trim). The Flagship trim also comes with lane departure warning.

Aside from that, this crossover SUV comes with front ventilated disc brakes and rear disc brakes.
