The Hongqi HS5 is available in the market as a premium option for folks looking to get a five-seater crossover. 

At maximum, the Hongqi model’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine can generate up to 221 horsepower and 340 Newton-meters of torque. With those kinds of numbers, the HS5 can be described as peppy. 

Likewise attractive to its prospective buyers is the model’s assertive-looking exterior design. The model’s appearance was enhanced by a chrome-clad grille, contemporarily styled LED lighting fixtures, and a set of 20-inch alloy wheels.

Stylish cockpit

Step inside the front cabin of the HS5, and one will be greeted by an elegant but modern dashboard clad in soft-touch leather surfaces or decorated by polished silver decorative bits. All interior door cards were also given a quilted-leather finish, while all seats are clad in luxurious Nappa leather. 

Over towards the center console, it features a touch-capacitive control panel for the vehicle’s filtered dual-zone automatic climate control system. The aforementioned goes along with several physical buttons for a lot of the crossover’s driving functions, such as its drive mode selector and electronic parking brake.

Interestingly, the dedicated buttons for the vehicle’s heated and ventilated 14-way power-adjustable front seats are located just below the model’s chunky-looking shifter. 

Also available for the driver is a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustability. The wheel also comes with auxiliary gear selector controls and a heating function. 

Other available driving-related features of the HS5 include a heated and ventilated adjustable front seat headrest, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a push-to-start button, and keyless entry, among others.

Loads of on-board tech  

Dominating the dashboard of the HS5 is a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The said display is also connected to a 12-piece Bose Centerpoint surround sound system. 

The driver of the model, on the other hand, is provided with a 12.3-inch digital multi-information display. Together with the central headunit, the two screens form a widescreen for optimal legibility.

To keep devices inside the HS5 topped up, the model was kitted out with a wireless smartphone charger and several USB ports. 

The premium crossover also has a large host of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, hill-hold control, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking, among others. 

Besides its ADAS kit, the HS5 also comes standard with anti-lock braking, stability control, traction control, a 360-degree view camera, ISOFIX child seat anchors, dual front airbags, front side airbags, and dual side curtain airbags, among others. 

Excellent levels of practicality

Apart from being equipped for luxury, the model also has a number of practical features that will make it suitable as a daily driver. 

To note, Hongqi didn’t share the HS5’s trunk capacity, but it comes with a flat-folding rear seat with a 60:40 split-fold functionality. The said feature sounds simple, but it can be very useful for folks intending to use the model as a grocery-getter or a road-trip chariot. 

Moreover, the HS5 also comes with plenty of storage cubby holes, cupholders, and storage pockets. However, if the model’s interior storage is not enough, the crossover also comes with a pair of roof rails.

At the moment, Hongqi Philippines has yet to reveal the pricing of the HS5. Regardless, it appears that it has already shaped up into a plush and peppy crossover - two qualities many car buyers might want.
