Kia Soluto: Pros and cons

The Kia Soluto is one of the South Korean carmaker’s entries into the country’s subcompact car segment.

It has been a popular choice among car buyers thanks to its ability to offer a handful of decent features without breaking the bank.

For those who want to know more about the Kia Soluto, here’s a quick look at its pros and cons to help with making a better buying decision.

Pros:

Classic Kia exterior

The Kia Soluto is one of the few automobiles in the carmaker’s local roster that still wears the brand’s classic look.

At its fore is Kia’s iconic tiger-nose grille flanked by a pair of halogen headlamps and — for the range-topping variant — two front front fog lamps. Compared to other models such as the Sorento, Carnival, Seltos, and the EV6, the Soluto together with the Stonic, still don the old Kia fascia, which gives it that classic car look.

Further emphasizing its classic appeal are body-colored front and rear bumpers, chrome door handles, as well as 14-inch alloy wheels shod in 170/70 tires.

Good interior

The interior features of the Kia Soluto is also something worth noting.

For its price, the compact car already comes with seats covered in leatherette upholstery, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, and a leather gear shift knob.

It also gets an instrument panel that combines both digital and analog gauges, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and manual air conditioning.

The said infotainment unit also has Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity with voice control.

Rear camera

The Kia Soluto is fitted with a rear camera out of the factory. This means that even penny pinching car buyers no longer need to purchase aftermarket rear cameras to have that feature.

In addition to the rear camera with static guide lines, the Kia Soluto also comes with rear parking sensors — to help drivers get in and out of tight spots safely.

Cons:

Limited engine power

The Kia Soluto is powered by a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission.

Per Kia, this setup makes 93 horsepower with 132 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

In comparison, its segment rival the Changan Alsvin also packs a 1.4-liter mill but is able to churn out 99 horses and 135Nm of pulling power.
