Toyota Vios 2019: What can we expect?

So, you must have read the heading and got a fair idea as to what it is all about. Yes, we'll be talking about the 2019 Vios that according to Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) would be revealed later this month. Toyota Music Fest which is scheduled for July 28, 2018, will host the unveiling of this amazing car. Exciting, isn’t it?

No official information is out on what's on offer, but we can expect the parts of Toyota Vios to be sourced from Thailand. Toyota Thailand offers four different variants: S, G, E and J. Since Honda city comes in two different options, Honda city, and Honda city aspire, we can expect Toyota to release two versions for the Vios as well, a base version and a high-tech version. We won't discuss the powertrain and transmission options, as we have already done that in our previous blogs.

We will take you through the exterior, interior, and other explicit features of the Toyota Vios.

Moving to the exterior of the car, you get a projection LED headlamp that enhances the look of the Vios, giving it a sporty and aggressive appearance. The front bumper comes integrated with LED running lights and fog lamps for rough weather. The basic variant has simple designed multi-reflector headlamps with a black plastic covering that the bumper houses for the LED lights and fog lamps.

The rear part of both the models is almost similar. The only slight difference is the chrome plated grill housed by the high-end variant, while on the other hand there is a body colored for the base model. The same thing is seen in the door handles. The high-end variant comes with a 16” double toned alloys for the wheels while the base version has 15" steel rims with simple designed hubcaps.

Now looking at the interior, the Toyota Vios appears to be a totally different car. Talking about the base version, it comes with a black and beige colored interior. The door handles are in simple plastic and the fabric seats get a very simple design with a urethane steering wheel.

On the other hand, we have the high-end version of the car. It gets a black interior with red patches at the dash as well as in the door panels giving the car a sporty look. The door handles are perfectly finished in glossy piano black. The gear handle also gets the same. The seats and the steering wheel gets a fully leather finish.

Even with all these, there is an absence of simple features in the standar trim like intermittent wipers, top mounted stop lamp, reverse camera, automatic climate control, steering wheel controls, rear disk brakes, and the most significant one being the push start with keyless entry.

Some of the perks in the high-end variant include ORVM integrated with turn indicators, LED tail lamps, power windows on all sides, driver side height adjuster, automatic folding mirrors, immobilizer, traction control, EBD, ABS and BA along with two airbags.

As for its under the hood configuration, the all-new Vios is expected to mirror current generation engine lineup. Thus we expect to see a 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre engine upon its launch. Interestingly, the transmission options for the 2019 Vios are speculated to be a five-speed manual gearbox and a CVT system.
