2018 Mazda CX-3 revealed with updated features

MANILA: The ebullient crossover from the Japanese manufacturer Mazda has recently received its 2018 update. Yes, the 2018 Mazda CX-3 has been finally revealed with aggressive looks and sharp handling. It is not just the handling and styling that has received a touch of freshness, there are a lot of improved safety features in the 2018 CX-3 that makes it even more competitive in its respective segment.

One of the major updates is the G-Vectoring Control, which was initially introduced in the Mazda 3, Mazda 6 and Mazda CX-5. With this, the all-new CX-3 gets improved handling and better power delivery through automatically adjusting engine torque to steering inputs. There is also a new safety system known as Smart City Brake Support that comes into action and applies brakes in extreme condition below 30 kmph. Mazda has also updated suspension bushing; has added new front lower control arms, engine mounts, and recalibrated dampers.

In the cabin, there are no design changes but certainly a list of new features to improve the comfort level of occupants. The driver seat now comes with memory function, while there is a new heated steering with Mazda’s Active Driving Display, which is a head’s up display unit for the driver to get a hang of important information of the drive.

Beneath the hood, the same 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G four-cylinder engine pulls out a maximum power output of 148 PS at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 192 Nm at 2800 rpm. It is further mated to a six-speed automatic transmission which is also refined along with throttle response to improve the overall performance of this sporty crossover in an effective manner.

Since its entry, this sturdy crossover has managed to win a lot of Filipino’s hearts, kudos to its best-in-class handling and contemporary design. Though it has a potent engine and comfortable driving dynamics, it still has a lot of room to achieve the standard of Honda HR-V in terms of overall refinement and cabin space. Let’s see what the 2018 version has to offer with its recent changes. Although there is no news of its launch in the local market, we expect Mazda Philippines will bring the 2018 CX-3 by the end of this year.
