Mazda PH stages 1st eSports Fan Festa
Motorsport event staged at Mazda Center of Excellence in Cabuyao, Laguna
MANILA: Mazda Philippines recently staged its first eSports Fan Festa, allowing the Bermaz Auto Philippines Incorporated-led brand to continue its motorsports program despite the effects of the recent fuel crisis.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Why did Mazda Philippines transition its motorsports program to a virtual eSports event?
The shift to virtual racing was prompted by a recent oil crisis, which led the Automobile Association of the Philippines to briefly suspend traditional motorsports activities that rely heavily on petroleum. What activities and attractions were available to attendees at the Mazda Center of Excellence?
Beyond virtual sim racing using rigs supplied by Apex Racing Philippines, event-goers enjoyed live drifting demonstrations by Angie Mead King in her four-rotor Mazda RX-7, a display of iconic race cars (including the trophy-winning #55 Team MSCC Mazda Miata Spec), and various interactive activities to win merchandise. The event was held at the Mazda Center of Excellence in Cabuyao, Laguna, which proved to be a fitting venue for the exciting affair, since it was not only about enthusiasts sitting on racing simulators, but was also about celebrating the passion shared by like-minded individuals.

“From every race, every cheer, and every shared moment — this celebration was made special because of all of you… Until the next one,” it added.
Sim racing
Mazda Philippines partnered with Apex Racing Philippines to supply enthusiasts with rigs for simulating the one-make race.
As briefly covered above, the recent oil crisis prompted the Automobile Association of the Philippines to briefly suspend motorsports activities since racing with petroleum-fed, performance-oriented cars relies heavily on the use of fuels.
