2019 Hyundai Accent launched at Php 750,000

MANILA: We recently did a story on what makes the 2019 Hyundai Accent a good buy. And in no time, the South Korean automaker has launched the newest iteration of the ever so popular sedan in the Philippines.

While the new Accent had already made its debut in the country last month, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. took a good amount of time to unveil the official pricing of the car. Starting from Php 750,000, the 2019 Hyundai Accent price goes all the way up to almost Php 1 million.

The 1.4 GL M/T is the base model which retails at Php 750,000. To our surprise, this entry-level variant does not even come equipped with airbags. The 1.4 GL A/T, which is the automatic variant of the base model has been priced at Php 798,000.

The manual and the automatic models with airbags carries a price tag of Php 798,000 and Php 850,000, respectively. Talking about the turbodiesel variants, both the diesel models come equipped with airbags. The diesel manual and automatic variants of the 2019 Hyundai Accent have been priced Php 870,000 and Php 980,000, respectively.

Barring the airbag discrimination, Hyundai has equipped all the variants of the 2019 Accent will similar equipment. Manual climate control, 2-DIN stereo with LCD display, tilt-steering, and Aux & USB connectivity along with 15-inch steel wheels clothed with plastic wheel-caps feature on all the variants.

Throwing some light inside the hood, we find a Kappa 1.4-litre MPI Dual CVVT gas-fed motor good enough for 100 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 132 Nm. On the other hand, the U-II 1.6-litre CRDi VGT diesel engine pumps out a maximum power of 128 PS and 260 Nm of peak torque.

What is intriguing here is that the CRDI motor now makes good 8 PS less than the previous generation motor. In the world where automakers are packing their engines with more power, Hyundai has chosen to reduce the punch.
